The MTL MTL5531 is a compact single-channel galvanically isolated vibration signal isolator within the MTL5500 series, manufactured by Eaton MTL Instruments. It interfaces 2-wire current vibration sensors and 3-wire eddy-current probes / accelerometers installed in explosive hazardous zones, reproducing vibration signals to safe-side monitoring PLCs and machine condition systems.
This unit delivers full 3-port galvanic isolation between hazardous sensor circuit, safe monitoring output and 24V DC power supply to eliminate ground loop noise and transient cross-coupling. It supports user-switchable 3.3mA excitation for 2-wire vibration transducers, wide 47kHz signal bandwidth for high-frequency machine vibration signatures, and is certified for Zone 0 / Class I Div 1 hazardous locations. Assessed per IEC 61508, MTL5531 achieves SIL 2 capability for simplex safety instrumented systems, suitable for critical rotating equipment monitoring in oil & gas, petrochemical and power generation plants. A slim 16mm DIN rail housing maximizes cabinet density for multi-point vibration monitoring racks.
